Or is it just me?

This has been on mind for a long time and really haven't asked this offline or online because really felt theres no need to bring it up. Now, truly want to know because I can't take this anymore.

If nothing else, I think we are more aware of our self-centeredness.

Don't forget that a long time ago it was pretty common to kill someone else over some food. Not saying that it still doesn't happen on an individual scale. But way back whenever it was more of a group effort.

Slavery, civil rights, gender equality, "going green", etc... I think as the human race goes, we're much more other-centered than we have been in the past.

Stop and think about it. How often do you make a decision without any regard whatsoever for how your decision may effect someone else?

Are you saying that you are more self-centred than you used to be?

"I want" - "I can't take this". Self-centred.

If you are suggesting that you actually have a belief that the human race is more self-centred than at any time in the past, and you are having trouble dealing with this feeling:

1) I think you're wrong.

2) You could consider researching human history a little more to help ease your concerns.

I dont know what you all mean....as far as im concerned its all about me me me:jk
LMAO! :D

It's really hard to evaluate that because all you have is your life experience and possibly whatever reading you've done on the subject, but that does that prove? It's just a perception. When we were tribes, at a certain level we were more self centered. As the world has grown smaller, I'd say to some degree we are less self centered, however if it ever comes to loosing your standard of living or even survival I think views would snap back to immediately to "being all about me".

In short, yes. For most of the country (the one I live in) in my travels what I see is that people have been seemingly losing the sense of community, helping others and telling thier children to get off thier asses and go outside, play in the dirt, help mom and dad with chores and toss the fucking X-box out the window.

We have been becoming a closed door country for sometime.

My wife and I take the effort to interact with neighbors and do things in our community, it is important to feel a part of that, it was how our country was developed.

I agree with this..... I long for interaction with my neighbors and block parties that we used to have 15 yrs ago... that has been long gone for sometime now... people just dont seem to want to get to know each other anymore.... It sad and it makes life no fun for me(mainly because im so social)... so yes we are getting more selfish

and also in response to this.... Can you be my neighbor? lol

How you doin':cool:D

I agree....I really do. We have a pretty active little community within our neighborhood, we shut down our street and have block parties, all the kids play together (regardless of age), and we have a nice mix of personable yuppies and retired folks oddly enough. We love it:nod:

But it takes effort, it's easy to sit on the couch and watch the world pass.

For those who think the world hasn't gotten more self centered....My argument would be that you haven't seen much of the world.:D

It starts with the ring of a doorbell and "hello...we wanted to introduce ourselves";)

That's it.....What are you afraid of? Al lthey can do is look at you like you have ten heads, slam the door in your face and go pack to watching lost episodes of Survivor in which case you haven't lost anything...See
