I think the goverment does have to enforce enviromental policies, at least for people to make it part of their rutine to recycle, and learn that as part of what we could call the culture. In countries like Germany, they are very advance when it comes to this.
But do you think that ANY government would make it so harsh, even if that's what we need to give a chance to our planet on the long term, so they would risk to lose the next elections? We would have to do MUCH MUCH more than what is done is any country, to stop the degradation process. Seems to me as some bones thrown to satisfy the ecological side of some electors.

First you need to convince people that even doing little you help a lot, which is the truth. The rest will come later.

which is why for each individual they should have the true feeling of doing something big in "small" actions. if not good for the enviorment, good for the inside

It's hard to believe so much wisdom can be cast into such a small statement. Well said Mari.

People don't realize how much they waste needlessly, and can save without impacting their lives even a little.

If I were king for a day, some things I think would be a good idea would be to make the regular light bulb illegal to make or sell, and I would make it law that every building / structure built would have to be equipped with some form of clean power generation. (solar, wind, etc...)

Wouldn't cost anything measurable, but would save billions of tons of CO2 from going up into the air.

Don't want to sound like a gloomy gus or a doomsayer, but I'm pretty sure that the moment we started burning fossil fuels, it was already too late to turn back.

More importantly, though, is that no matter what we do the planet will do its thing & that is to constantly change, not only how it looks, but also the temperature. Once again I think that this is another one of those things where Man thinks that the Earth, the Universe & everything, revolves around him.

I cannot believe how egotistical we can be. There is nothing we can do to stop the climate from doing what it will do. Oh & by the way, the climate couldn't give a shit about us.

Try to think of this rant as not so much a case of negativity than a touch of realism.

I agree with you that mankind is not changing the weather on Earth. However, I do think it's a great excuse to help us stop polluting the place.

Absolutely, I'm a big believer in still trying to minimalize the amount of damage that we are doing. Regardless of what happens, as a race, I still want mankind (& womankind) to live on as long as possible. Just because I'm a realist does not mean that I can't dream of a future for us.
