Sequels and shared universes dominate releases. Do franchises crowd out original films, or help fund them? Which recent original movie surprised you? How much risk should studios take on new stories?

I thunk Film franchises prioritize familiar characters, worlds, and formulas, which often limits risk-taking and original storytelling. While franchises generate revenue and fan engagement, they can overshadow new ideas, making it harder for unique, standalone films to get attention or funding.

I think franchises are limiting original story telling. I think they are doing this as a sure-shot way to make money from the film
