whilst i dont want to take away fromt he fact that a man lost his life early to a horrible disease

i am puzzled at the outpouring of grief (all night candle light vigils at Apples stores worldwide etc etc) because of his death, firstly this is no shock, he stepped down months ago to deal with the cancer, there was no secret he was battling a rare form and the odds were stacked against him, secondly; granted he was a visionary BUT his company made cool gadgets, nothing more nothing less..he was a great business man and built an empire in Apple, but it will continue to flourish, so I am sorry for his family but really the world had not ended here

Glad someone else point this out. I agree with you. Who cares. People are acting like a close friend died.

I agree with this homo who agreed with the other homo

Hey all you homos of this line of thought - it's called simple human compassion. Most of us have personally lost a friend or loved one to cancer - I lost my father to pancreatic cancer.

So who cares? probably 2/3 of the U.S. population whose lives have been touched by this illness in some way.

I agree w/ THIS homo. And I should add that the man fought pancreatic cancer for something like 8 years...that's a hell of a long time to battle such an aggressive cancer.

Damned straight it is Tash! We don't know how long my father had it, but it was initially diagnosed as severe diabetes and they put him on insulin shots. When the pain got too much to bear, he went to the Veterans Administration hospital in Atlanta, and they rushed him to emergency surgery. The pancreatic cancer was so advanced, they closed him up and called the family together. He died 4 days later.

Says you. I don't give 2 shits that he was CEO of Apple...I find it sad that he's left behind his wife and kids at such an early age. And there is a difference in "grieving" him and feeling compassion for his family. Why are you guys so up in arms about it, anyway??? There are worse things in life than someone possibly grieving a death simply b/c someone was famous...find something more important to worry about, IJS.

Not up in arms, puzzled
Why are japanese teenagers seen crying in the streets, why do people take his death more to heart than the ongoing starving of thousands in the horn of Africa

On Twitter, someone recently said: „Wer bei jedem Promi-Tod anmerkt, wie viele Leute zugleich verhungerten, sollte das unbedingt auch auf der nächsten Beerdigung vorbringen.“

This means something like: "Those who always need to mention the thousands of people having died of hunger while one prominent person died, should also mention this when attending the next funeral."
(I hope, I translated it clearly enough so that the intended message can be understood)

(I don't understand what makes it that difficult to just shut up and accept that there are people who feel close to Steve Jobs and thus express their grief. No one is forced to feel the same, but please be that large-minded to accept other people handling things in another way than you do.
Moreover, it should be somehow natural that one feels closer to a person who somehow affected our daily life than to an anonymous mass of people one never got to know)

(Sorry, but I am so fed up with it at the moment. Wherever people talk about Steve Jobs and express their grief, other's appear just to swing the moral hammer...)
