Anyone know anything about Samsung Omnias?

Okay so I have a Samsung Omnia ich910.

I have plugged it in via USB to my sister in law's computer so that I can add ringtones and two things I downloaded for it (slide to unlock screen and a better keypad similar to iPhone). The problem is, when I plug it in to the computer, the ActiveSync doesn't connect. Also, when I go via My Computer, there is an icon called "Mobile Device" but it opens to nothing. It used to open right up and have folders called "My Ringtones" etc that are all still available from the phone, just not from the computer.

Anyone have any ideas?

If you have a memory card and the computer has the proper card reader you might try transferring data that way.

If you don't it could be a variety of things. Some of them can be rememdied rather simply.

-Make sure the latest version of ActiveSync is installed on your computer.
-Make sure USB mode is set properly on your phone. On your phone Start > Programs > ActiveSync > Menu > Connections, then select the right option for your computer.
-Try Connecting it manually by running the ActiveSync program on your computer and then going to File > Connection Settings, and then clicking the button that says connect.
-Run the Synchronization Wizard and see if it will allow you manually pick and choose what you want to transfer.

If none of this solves the problem it could be your computer's antivirus/firewall blocking the port. You can test for this by plugging in another USB device like a Flash Drive or an MP3 player if it loads it means this is not the problem. It could also be the port on your phone which could have been damaged.

If none of that works you might look on samsungs website for the User Manual for your phone and thumb through it. Or you might submit a tech support inquiry to samsung.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Edit: I just thought of this. If your computer is blue tooth enabled and so is your phone you might try transferring information that way as well.
