I have decided to be a vegetarian for a year starting January 1st.

I lived with a guy who was a vegetarian for a year, and I cooked and ate most his food so I figure I can do it.

Except I am going to be an epescetarian which is a vegetarian that eats fish!

dudes, I eat meat too

and actually dana we are not made to eat as much meat as we do. it takes us seven days to fully digest red meat and get it out of our system.

I have nothing against vegeterians or vegans, I get slightly annoyed when they have something against me, but as long as you don't, we're cool :) ;)

no girl! I will probably be cooking meat for my family, but not eating it.

I am just going to try it - just to do it.

24-72 hours to completely digest red meat and expel it from the body. Not 7 days or 3 months as I have heard before. Just a little FYI

It makes me laugh when people say the're a vegetarian that eats fish, erm, then you're not a vegetarian.;)

I think I'm going to tell people I'm a teetotaler. A teetotaler who drinks beer.

While I personally will probably never become a vegetarian, I applaud you Janie Dough. Americans eat just too much red meat. When I worked at the ShopRite (a supermarket chain) in town, I was amazed at how some people spend loads of money on every type of red meat they can find, but buy little or no vegetables or fruit!

I've done it before. You just have to be very very careful to make sure you still get all the proteins. When I started back, it hurt to eat meat. My body rejected it. I only rarely eat red meat now. It still hurts.

lol - very true! i have been very guilty of not buying fruits or vegetables lately but only because i am poor and don't have time to cook.

i've been eating rice and chicken broth... :(

Yes, it is going to be a challenge to eat a little healthier. Like I said, I lived with a guy and did it for a year almost with him. Of course sometimes I would sneak off and go eat steak or I would get things with chicken or cook something with broth...so this is going to challenge me to cook and cook healthy....

My sister has been a vegetarian for about 12 years. She eats eggs and dairy products.

yeah only vegans i think don't eat any animal products which includes eggs and dairy

vegetarians eat animal products in which it didn't cost the animal its life
epescitarian ---- spelling???? eats all that and fish
vegans don't eat ANY animal products - no dairy no eggs....that would be hard since a lot of things are produced using animal products - did you know most sugar is processed using cow bones?...or so i have heard.

Did you know, that in every animal, we will use upwards of 98% of their bodies to produce? Bones for jello, pig skin for dog treats and burn victims, oils for linoleum floors.... wouldn't surprise me if they used some bone in sugar, or just in the machinery to produce sugar--but that's much better then them just throwing it out, right?

This was discussed before right? was it you who said your body stops making the enyzmes to break the meat down? that right there steers me away from ever becoming a vegetarian.
