But there are times when Governments must step in.. Its why we have Government.. No one likes it and it should be kept at a minimum, even zero if companies could self regulate, but for the few exceptions there are times when its required yes or no ?

They do control water gas lights etc here as most time you dont have a choice of who to choose..so they regulate them by profit..I have no objection in those cases...they are the pros they built the utilities.
But in general there is no price control for goods and services.

Everybody seems to be missing the main point I am making...they are not forcing a reduced price for all.
Just reduced for the govt masking behind seniors.

I have no problem with the govt helping seniors {that is stepping in}

To go slightly off topic I have another beef....They are also regulating profits on insurance companies.
While they are forcing us to get insurance....now forced discounts to the gov.
Govt health care is insurance....when do insurance companies have authorities to make a law what they will pay for meds?
They can have a policy to pay for half and the patient pay half etc...but no authority to have a discount by law.

Now back to seniors for a moment...who have govt healthcare...they were forced to pay into it for many years {the deductions from the checks were very reasonable though}...your govt is your health care.

Will get to the Flash popping thread after a bit..I was posting from the phone earlier.

You missed my point,,,if the govt is going to pick up the tab then ok....but dont force the drug company to sell to you cheaper.

But you did hit the point in partial...price control.
Whats next....cars to high...must sell for less for seniors?
Food.
Rent.
Whats next?
I dont see how any of this is "legal"

I have no problem helping seniors ...if the govt wants to help then just pick up the tab..or in this case just pay 50 percent of the bill.

I actually heard a conservative argue that the USA prescription cost issue was not that we were paying to much, it was that the rest of the world was paying too little! And that's why we pay so much. Ha, the damn cheapskate world who tells drug companies to shove it up their bottoms while our leaders ride in the pockets of big pharmaceutical.

I believe some form of socialism will be the way advanced societies head. I predict, the natural order, dog eat dog, every person for themselves, the booms and crashes of what is humorously referred to as "free market" will not prevail. Of course the key is a system that works, is viable, has integrity, and has not been corrupted. One huge challenge to move ahead.

That's right, but it would take brain surgery to open your mind enough to accept this basic tenet of macroeconomics and gov't price controls.

It amazes me that people think companies sell at a loss.

What is right, the first part, last part or entire statement? You tend to wear the superiority chip on your shoulder a bit too often, as in continuously.

In the U.S. those who make money are venerated even as lobbyists ensure they receive corporate welfare.
