As far as I know 2.3 (gingerbread) has been released for Sprint users with newer phones (i.e the Evo)
Does anyone know when T-mobile phones such as the G2 will be getting their updates, im tired of my shit battery life

I think I get 12 to 14 out of mine for sure. I keep my app killer going so that helps....

I've recently gotten an android phone (HTC Desire Z) and I've been thinking that the low battery life is a consequence of a lowquality battery. Didn't know that android itself is the reason.

My cell phone is 3 days old and the battery hardly reaches a lifetime of 10 hours... I've already ordered a better battery on amazon.

@rback33: I've downloaded "Battery Doctor" which includes an App Killer. But I don't really understand what this app killer is doing. When I press it it says "15 apps to kill" or something like that. And just few minutes later there are apps running again. :dunno
(And yes, I've already put all settings to reach best energy conditions.)

Well app killers have been proven to lower your battery life because relaunching apps uses more battery life than starting one back up from idle. I used to use one until I was told this, unless its been changed I might as well give it another chance

It depends on how long it's been since you ran the apps I think. Mine kill them automatically if I have not used them in a while. Not sure how long that is. I am not sure how your network works over there compared to mine either. I can see the cell tower from my office door...

How much are you guys on your phone to have a dead battery before the day is gone?
Are they eating batteries while in standby as well?

You should root your phone and unlock the shackles the phone companies place on us. I did this so I can use mine as a wi-fi hotspot without paying 20 extra per month to Verizon. I already pay them $30 a month for unlimited data and then they want an extra $20 to use the same connection? Screw that.

I got the app Juice Defender which seems to help

I could make it a day before but not much longer.

Now I can go about 3 days. But some things are disabled I believe

I don't access my phone a tone though like some

I bought a battery back up at Target. You can plug in other USB devices to it and recharge so when I think I might be going somewhere without a charger for a while I can recharge or use the battery back up as an emergency source
