We finally put our two oldest cats to sleep. Bingo was between 17 and 18 and Patches was between 16 and 17. In comparison, my little brother is almost 20. Both of the had gotten pretty sick when they were young so it's really surprising to us that they made it this far. The first vet we took them to refused to put Patches down without running some pretty costly tests for hypothyroidism, which could have possibly accounted for one of many (pretty major) problems she had. So we took them to another vet who agreed that she was in a lot of pain and it was best to let her go. The whole family is upset but we all know it was for the best.

Bingo is the black one and Patches is the white and orange one.

Needless to say, it's not been a good week for cats in my family.

The black cat there looks just like my parents cat, blackjack, who had to be put down due to hyperthyroidism. He was 19 when he went, but he couldn't hold any food down and was slimming way down.

Bingo's teeth had worn down so much that all he could eat was soft food. It got to the point that he wasn't eatting or drinking. He used to weigh about 10 lbs and weighed 4.9 lbs today.

Yeah same with blackjack. He usually ate soft food normally anyway, but he hadn't touched his dry food in months leading up to my mom having to put him down.

Damn girl. I know that has to really, really suck. I could not imagine having to lose three pets in such a short time.

Thanks everyone. The hard part will be tonight when I got to bed (I haven't been in my room yet). Ever since she was big enough, Patches has spent at least part of the night, if not the while night, sleeping on my pillow. Both her and Haliy lived in my room so now I'm down to one with me. It's going to be weird tonight.

That's so sad, they lived full, long, happy, lives though. :)
I had a cat who had to be put to sleep... It was so sad, she was only three years old. :(
I currently have four cat's. They're awesome, great companions.
