Today was my last day of my internship. I've been with these students since January and I've known some of them since 2nd grade (they're in 5th grade now). I ended up observing a 2nd grade class, a kindergarten class, and a 5th grade science class (I only taught language arts and social studies). I ate lunch with my students and them took them out for a long recess before my "surprise" party (I've know for about a month they were doing it). Sadly, my directing teacher had to leave early in the day because her son, while fine, was in an accident. I told them I would come back and visit them and that I would be back for their end of the year celebrations. I had about five of my girls sobbing that I was leaving so I let the ones that could stay hang out in the classroom with me until I could leave. They got me crying a little bit. Then my principal gave me a hug, told me that I would make a wonderful first year teacher, and told me to apply for all the positions that I can. Which I'm pretty sure is a hint that he'll have openings and he's considering me. I would love to teach at this school.
I'm sad that I'm leaving my students but I'm ready to move on and be done with college. It was quite the birthday present.
