I'm really liking this show... I'm not sure I believe everything in this show but I definitely have my doubts about how the dinosaurs became extinct. I believe aliens exist and may have come to Earth. Mass extinction as some scientists theorize doesn't add up in my head. How can mass extinction take place and yet some species that predate the dinosaurs still thrive today?

I believe it's possible they could have been exterminated.

So you have a hard time believing a scientific certainty yet think it's plausible that aliens came from outer space and had a huge dinosaur cook-out.

No they weren't exterminated by aliens!

I took at that picture at the British Natural History Museum. In all fairness they had other pictures about how dinos could have died but that one was my favourite.

:24: that's awesome. Tim, I just don't believe in the mass extinction theory. It doesn't add up.

Is not one theory that there was a meteor that crashed here and it stirred up so much dust that it obscured the sun for an extended period of time.

or am I dreaming on that one?

if true then I can see where some animals might live and others die as not all animals can adapt.

But if the meteor was as big as they say it was... I believe they think 8 miles across it would have been like several nuclear bombs going off... How can life survive? They said the world would have plunged into darkness for several years. Watching other documentaries, I can see how deep water species can survivor as they are not dependent on sunlight.

Can you comprehend exactly how long ago it has been since dinasaurs have been extinct and how long they roamed the earth?

Another "extinction event" is possible on this earth.

100,000 years is a blink of the eye, although to many it's a pretty darn long time.

Yes Joe... I have a comprehension of time. :smiley24:

I just wondered because you mentioned 7 years of darkness. It's not like one decade the diansaurs were here and the next decade they weren't.

A 1,000 years is a drop in the bucket.

There are many, many causes for mass extinction, not just impact events like a meteor. And they're all way more likely than aliens.

My theory is yes the dinosaurs died due to enormous environmental changes
weather it be melting glaciers or volcanic eruptions

Aliens, yes they most likely have been observing the Earth but stealthily to protect themselves.
Well wouldn't you want to observe a new life form with caution

The dinosaurs were wiped out.

Yet birds, reptiles, fish, and mammals survived. Albeit with massive losses.

Why is this? Think about it. Think about how much the dinosaur probably had to eat to survive. The average African elephant has to eat 300lbs of food a day. Imagine what a Diplodocus or Brontosaurus, about 8 times larger, had to eat.

Suddenly, evolution favoured not the largest creatures, but those that could survive on what limited resources were about after and during the extinction events.

I support this theory as well

I could be wrong, but I believe that birds are the closet descendants to diansaurs that you will find.
right on track
the birds have a skeletal structure similar to that of the dinosaurs and if you were to replace all the makings of the dinosaur with what would be best fitted for the environment you would come up with the bird

both possibly correct, the earth was spewing volcanos when the meteor hit
