How many other countries are viably in this "coalition" in Afghanistan? I assume their participation is at "token" level at best. I don't understand why O doesn't take advantage of this great international warm&fuzzy vibe (aka the "I'm not Bush", syndrome) and demand all his new world friends pony up with money and soldiers. He could wag his Nobel at them and say "I need your help to make PEACE come faster!"
Unfortunately this hasn't been updated since Oct.30 but it makes Canada's participation in fighting your drug war more than a "token" level.

Correct me if I am wrong. Michael Moore is 100% correct. The way I look at it Obama is contradicting now. The troop surge is a carefully crafted withdrawal strategy without creating a vacuum, accelerating the training and recruitment of Afghan soldiers and policemen. When US troops leaves by 2012 you can expect civil war.

Obama is confusing people. He increases troops by 30k and at the same time has a timetable for withdrawal which coincides with campaigning for re-election.
(looking at different angles)

Several highlighted the contradiction between Mr. Obama announcing the sending of 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan and also insisting he will begin to pull them out in 2011.
