Sovereignty is not for beggars
The unprovoked attack on a Pakistani check post on 26[SUP]th[/SUP] November 2011 is yet another example of the barbaric nature of US government and the dichotomy of its leaders. The US government today represents the most insensitive, cruel and inhuman corporate-driven machinery with an insatiable greed for power, control and money.
It is not enough for Pakistan to say that “we shall revisit and undertake a complete review of all programmes and co-operative arrangements with US/Nato, including diplomatic, political, military and intelligence". It would have been far more effective if Pakistan had also declared that it will stop taking all loans and aid from the US and other donor agencies. While much of the donor money in any case finds its way in the pockets of the rulers and the elite, the country only receives an indelible burden of increased dependence, debts, and disgrace. Beggars are rarely respected for their soverignity and never for their statements.
The US military and diplomatic presence in Pakistan must be reduced to bare minimum. Their (unnecesarily) much sought after diplomats should receive a social boycott from all sensible and self respecting people. Our politicians and rulers need to stop shamelessly seeking the blessings and intervention of the US ambassador in the smallest decisions of the state. The US ambassador needs to be told to stop delivering unsolicited advice like “we think Pak-Iran pipeline is not a good idea”. To modify a well known quote, “ Anyone who doesn't take sovereignty seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either”.
