I agree with the people who said it was her choice, it's just still sad to see a beautiful and talented young woman turn into a mess and kill herself so young, thus robbing the world of years more of her incredible songwriting and singing. I also feel she was let down by people who should have been looking after her better when she was so vulnerable, especially her rent-a-quote father.

She just got out of rehab, actually, which increases the likelihood of death upon pickup. Once the body detoxes from a drug, and goes long enough without it, the next use is typically much more toxic and potentially deadly.

Aftercare is SO important.

I am truly saddened by this, because I adored her music. She was talented in my eyes, what a waste.

Panacea covered it, but I was going to say that she actually went to rehab multiple times...but as soon as she'd get out she was back to drugs. Looking at her picture from the first time I ever saw her and the last picture I saw of her, you could see the steady downhill progression of an addict. I am not surprised by her death...I'm surprised it took this long. It's a shame to see such talent and promise go that way...what a waste. Oh her poor dad...that poor man was a mess before when he was trying to save her life. I can only imagine what he's like right now. Poor guy!!

He'll probably carry on where he left off, cashing in on her name. Instead of giving her the privacy she needed when she was going to rehab, he was blabbing to the newspapers and media at every chance he got. More of a hinderance than a help. :thumbdown

I guess you guys probably saw more of it than we would in the states. It always seemed to me that he was just a concerned parent who was concerned that his daughter was killing herself. But, to be fair, I only saw him in the news maybe twice talking about her. Still, no parent should have to deal w/ losing a child...especially at such a young age.

I'm interested in Mark Ronson's response, he's as much her talent as she was...he always pulled for her even when she made things impossible.

Yeah I guess so, her father made the top 10 most annoying people of last year list, he's one of those horrible z-list so called celebrities who's only famous for being related to someone famous and is never out of the media. He's not known as rent-a-quote for nothing, her brother is nearly as bad too, wouldn't be surprised to see them on some trashy celebrity reality show within a year or two.

Oh there is no doubt her music was good and she was a good singer. But that fact was, she was an addict that was never going to quit. She knew what she was doing. I mean look how skinny and bad she looks in this picture

She even looks high as a kite here when singing. It's a waste of talent yes, I agree. But as a person, she just didn't cut living a clean life.

Very sad when a person with good talent is ruined by drugs and alcohol. Only shows to what most in this current generation have depended on to make themselves happy or contented in life :(

Umm I think that is a mistaken belief

Last I looked the following were from other generations.

Jim Morrison
Janis Joplin
Jimi Hendrix
John Belushi
Nick Adams
Chet Baker
Lester Bangs
Len Bias
John Bonham
Lenny Bruce
Dorothy Dandridge
Brian Epstein
Judy Garland
Brian Jones
Alan Ladd
Frankie Lymon
Keith Moon
Elvis
David Ruffin
Jean Seberg
Inger Stevens

My bad for wrong choice of words. I don't know how to explain it :( But you're right about those past generations

What am trying to say is that more and more seems to be in this generation, becoming more rampant- i guess.....*shrugs*

She did look adorable in that 2 year old picture from that link.

Can't believe you forgot Kurt Cobain.

Then again, Tony Bennett is still going strong.

The list of drug addicts who died late 20's\early 30's pretty much explains that occurrence.
