There is a joke about a buffet where the proprietor told a customer, "That is all YOU can eat."

When I was young I would take my dates to this particular seafood restaurant on all you can eat Shrimp night. Their game was simple. It was not self-service so they would ply you with bread and salad. Then the shrimp came with a large baked potato or fries & about 15 shrimp. If you asked for more they would bring you about 8 shrimp. After that they would bring you about 3 shrimp every time you asked for more. The servers were in no hurry in hopes you would get full.

There was a diner who had all you can eat buffet.
The diner closed locally because the food was being sneaked out and the customers were getting rowdy.
Another owner took over.
You have to buy a platter...then go to the all you can eat bar.
Is it better ?
Profit-wise yes.
As a customer ?
Lets say the riff raft with money still goes to the diner...but you can tell the difference(positively).

There are some who may get a attitude when going back and forth to serve.
Usually they get little to no tips.
Not going to mention any chain but I prefer self serve.
The cooks or whoever fills the bins will keep bringing the food.
You can always ask for what's not out...depending on the diner.

...Like it or not the servers should accommodate.

Unless a server is totally incompetent I usually tip well.

maybe the guys were pigs
but you shouldn't advertise a lie
its bull crap
its a way for them to get customers to pay a larger price for a meal than usual
to make them think they are going to get all you can eat
but they are full after just a small bit
so they over paid
red lobster does this with a shrimp all you can eat
but it was good and I left stuffed an only paid about 3 dollars more than the single meal I was going to get

I can't think of this without thinking of the Simpsons episode where Homer goes to that all you can eat restaurant.

I think it's pathetic when I see people piling on food and they keep going back. I get a bit and might go back once. I hate going into buffets since I lost weight, it's like a gluttons heaven. It disgusts me.
