I love the Outer Banks. My family rented a house in Buxton for a week way back in the '70s and we had one of the best vacations ever. I remember going to the top of the lighthouse all those years ago.

The Outer Banks is the one place on the planet where I can absolutely find peace. It's bizarre...as soon as I hit the beach, I can feel the muscles in my face relax...stress is gone...worries...gone...it's really a healing place for me...and when I leave it, I get a little melancholy...I actually spend the night before by myself in a beach chair with the surf coming up around me saying "goodbye" to the beach.

....I told you all I was a big dork.

That's my favorite time to go...most of the loud tourists are gone and the beaches, while pretty private even in peak season, are even more private.
