Aaw! That's my home! Kinda. I'm not sure I've ever been that far down.

Where 168 meets 17, just south of that light is my church. It's right on the sound. Easter morning services are kinda cool. When you cross into NC from VA on 168, there's a light next to the visitor center that used to be a church, and there's a video store and post office just past the light... my parents live down that road. And you've driven by my high school. It's just south of where 158 and 168 meet.

Did you go to Currituck County High School? I was trying to figure out how many students they must have because CC is HUGE! I can picture where your folks live...is your church on the Albemarle sound? I'm again trying to picture it, but usually by the time I get to that point in the drive (it's about 9 hours from where I live) I start to get a little bleary eyed...lol

But I do love it down there...lovely people, lovely places to see...it's just goodness...(agreeing with bootsy)

I did! It's actually not that big. Not when I was there. The middle school and high school are back to back and the HS (which you see first) is a hollow square.
It's the Currituck sound. My mom works on the loop that goes to the ferry still, actually. The Church is Pilmoor.

I love when people go out there and I can tell them they practically drive by my house.

John is from DC and he went down the summer after high school. He saw my whole world before we ever met, and since it's a tiny town, that to me was really cool.

I came by this thread by accident whilst looking for some mysterious pink porridge portraiture.

I'm glad I stopped by though- some beautiful shots of beaches, waves and sunset. My favourite one though has to be the foot imprint though. Lovely texture

Beautiful shots. I watched this thing just recently where a WWII vet went back to one of the beaches they stormed and you could still see old distoried tanks and guns. Second pic reminded me of that.

Thank you. :)

Thanks, Ryder...I've always wondered what the heck that is. At first I thought it was an anchor, but I swam out to it, and there is a lot more of it that's buried so it would be completely disproportionate...Not sure what it is! I know a lot of ships have wrecked along that stretch of the ocean, hence the moniker "graveyard of the Atlantic."

I want so desperately to go home right now.

Aw, I so desperately want to go back to south of your home...but I have to wait until September... :(

Great pictures!
I love the Outer Banks. My family rented a house in Buxton for a week way back in the '70s and we had one of the best vacations ever. I remember going to the top of the lighthouse all those years ago.
