I suppose it is all to do with personal preference. Having children in your 20's mean they are old enough for you to then enjoy your 30's and the rest of your life to do as you please.

But, because I met my husband in my late 20's, I started again when my son was 9. lol. But I still enjoy doing what I want even now. Work, hobbies, going out when I please etc. So it isn't all that bad.

I can see both sides!

There we go, talking about sides again! :eek

Yesterday playing tag with my son and his friend at the town playground, as I was running out of breath, my son told me to stop running because he knew I was getting tuckered out. Heck, I use to be able to run 10 miles in under an hour LOL

Just a little shy of 50, and today I'm actually going in for an eye exam because I think I may need glasses.

That said, I didn't have children well into my 40's and no regrets. Up until I got married I did EVERYTHING I ever wanted to do athletics/outdoor wise along with travel. When I started a career in my late 20's, I could move around the US and travel light because I had no one to worry about. That's something I forever grateful my parents instilled in me, and it's something I hope I instill in my own children. As I've told my wife, now that I have a home and a family, there isn't anything I would ever change because as much fun as I use to have, I'm having even more fun now.

A buddy of mine had a saying engraved in his wood paddle. "People don't stop playing because they get old, they get old because they stop playing" There is truth in that.

Change the "was" to "am" and you've got me to a T. I have known since I was 12 y/o that I didn't want kids. I love children, I really do...and I think that if I ever had them I would be a good mom...but I like my life the way it is as far as being able to do whatever I want then I want w/o having to worry about who's going to get the kids to school or who's going to watch the kids while I go out to dinner w/ a friend. Yeah...that's just not for me. I don't believe in raising kids half-assed...so I choose not to have them. There are plenty of people out there that are willing to give 100% to raise kids, so I'll leave it to them.

There's nothing wrong with that either though, it's not like there's a population shortage or anything. It's a pity more people don't think it through better before they have kids.

I've got a kids conundrum for sure.

On one hand I'm an only child who never got to be a child, I saw really bad examples of families (basically I have no incentive to be a mother) and I have a pretty wicked pregnancy phobia.

But on the other hand I'm with someone I love too much to take it off the table. It's one of those things that lets me know I picked the right one :p He has siblings, a good family, and he doesn't really see them same dangers and barriers I see.

Ugh :p
At this point I'd like to just have a surrogate carry the child, and a nanny raise it. Clearly I'm not ready :24:

I'm definitely ready for a baby. Not in the financial sense, and this wouldn't be an ideal time for me to get pregnant at all. But in terms of feeling emotionally ready, I'm there.

I get worried about my son and his gf, with them both being 18 this year. I need to brace myself for the word "Nanny" I am hoping it won't happen anytime soon. But you never know with youngsters these days!!!

With ya on the scared of pregnancy bit. Especially working where I do. It's put the fear of God into me.

Like that ever works. You can tell them. But you can't stand over them and watch they play safe!!!

That's why I told my bitch-in-law to put my niece on a shot instead of pills. Can't "forget" that way.

I have a daily reminder in my phone for my pill cos I ALWAYS forget it.

I hope to get on birth control at my next gyno appointment...I will definitely be doing the same thing as far as a reminder goes.

The phone reminder has been amazing for me. I'm super organized and rarely forget things, but even rarely is too much with the pill.

Just make sure if a guy is going to put his dick in you, have him wear a rubber for back up;)

Just find it amazing with where we are at with the population growth, that people with brains have kids unexpectedly.

Like my dad told me, one good night of pleasure could end up costing me 18 years of child support, because even if she was a good lay, she could be a real bitch and there is no way I'd want to live with her LMAO.

As scared as I am of pregnancy, I'm more terrified of STDs. You can get rid of a pregnancy if so inclined.

Reason #1 why I've never had sex w/o a condom.

I was already accustomed to taking a pill every morning at the same time, so I just added birth control to that and have never had a problem with forgetting. It's easy if you have a glass of water & the pills right next to your alarm clock. It goes off, you take pills, then get out of bed. Rinse & repeat. :p
