The major blaze in Churchill was lit on purpose, we know now, and that blaze killed at least 19 people. I hope these bastards have a conscience and have nightmares about the people they killed.

One of my best friends lost her home in the blaze. The fire in Maiden Gully, which was believed to have been lit on purpose, destroyed her house, and travelled to Long Gully and Eaglehawk, killing at least two people. Those fires were about 20 minutes from my home, and I was prepared to get out if things got too bad. I could see the smoke clouds in the sky. It was so frightening.

The saddest stories are starting to come out, now. Four people found huddled together in a shed, two sisters died as they tried to save their horses, they fled to a neighbours property which burned down, killing her son and two grandchildren.
A man who ran back to his home to look for his dogs was killed, a disabled man died after his wife and another man had to leave him because the flames were too hot, and a family trying to flee in the car, but the smoke was so thick they couldn't see the road, and drove over a cliff. That was probably the most horrific story I have heard so far, they thought they were safe.

175 dead so far...but we have banded together and raised more than 15 million for the disastor fund.

i had some dumbass(my brother inlaw a firefighter) say they should have had the planes dump water....i said, what fucking water? their temperatures have been well over 40C and its Australia, not fucking Canada where everywhere we look there's another big fucking lake to get water from....man i hate ignorant people.

this is the worst case of fires i have EVER heard of...i feel so sad hearing the stories of how people have died and hope all of you over there are safe away from both the flooding or the fires.

Cooler Temperatures Hit Victoria, giving fire crews a bit of a break, but 21 fires still burning, Death Toll now is feared to reach over 200 people :(

I hope the winds die down, and fire crews can get this under control - no more losses of people, animals and homes :(

181 people dead. They expect that 100 Marysville residents will have perished. That's one in five residents - the population was 519. This town was literally wiped off the map. It's so hard to even think about. Hopefully these people can rebuild.

What angers me is that many people who lived in the bush tried to cut down trees on their OWN PROPERTY, and were taken to court by the council and labelled 'environmental vandals'. One couple lost $100,000 fighting this, and they lost. Their house was saved, though - the only house in their area that was clear of trees was left standing.

Yeah, I heard it's now 180+ people confirmed dead. Tragic losses, and hope everything gets better asap.
