It's been two weeks now and the physical need seems to be disappearing slow but sure. The habit part is the tough one in some regards but I suppose that makes sense after smoking for so long. I will say that I don't miss it one bit and when I actually stop and think about it there isn't one positive thing I can say about smoking.

Food started tasting different about a week ago, the air smells different and my cloths don't smell anymore. Not that I could tell before but I sure can tell it on others now. :eek My breathing has gotten quite a bit better. No more typical smokers cough or wheezing. :thumbup My car no longer smells like smoke. Instead it smells like a flower factory. :)

The whacked out dreams caused by the Champix have stopped but I do have some insomnia and I wake up a gazillion times a night. I'm used to getting about 5 hours of sleep a night so it's no big deal. Another month and a half and I'll be done with the drugs. It's a small price to pay.

Mrs. Stinkey, soon to be Mrs. Guyzerr again is giving it her best shot now as well. Today is day two for her. We will beat this thing.

I rewarded myself for my good behavior and bought an Ipod and a new GPS. The cost is a bit more than what I would have spent on smokes for the past two weeks but I figured I was worth it. Go me!

Good job, Guy...keep up the good work!!! And good luck to your wife, too!!! The reward you got may have costed more than cigs for your time smoke-free SO FAR, but eventually it will even out. ;)

Guyz...Congrats for even making the decision to quit. That is awesome and each day is a small victory. One of the hardest things to do in life is give up an addiction and you are almost there! Best of luck and keep up the good work!

Great job Guyz. Smoking is the one bad habit I never developed ;) My mom was a 5 pack a day smoker who died of cancer in her mid 50s. Cancer runs in my mom's family but most of the 13 kids smoked too. Now all of them are dead and some were in there forties when they died. On my dad's side of the family is heart disease, so all and all it's a good thing I don't smoke.

I hope you and the Mrs. are successful. I like u Guy, would like u to be around a long while :)

Wow, five packs a day? Isn't that like 100 cigarettes? Wow.

Sorry to hear about you losing your Mom.

Yeah, I've never seen the like since. She would literally be sitting up in bed 90% asleep and smoking. She even smoked when she had an oxygen tank the last few weeks!! Lucky she didn't blow herself up. I used to hate to dump the garbage at home because of all the ashes that would float up after. Gross.

Fantastic to hear friend..

Just think of all that extra time you are giving yourself to shoot pictures of birds and will now be able to smell their shitty little asses as they fly next to you.. :D

Thanks for the words of encouragement Nail Lady. ;) Oh... and don't say SO FAR cuz I am done.

It will never work out. We spent more on smokes on a monthly basis than most people on this site spend on housing .... and I'm not kidding when I say that. That isn't the reason I'm not smoking though. It just got to the point where it bothered me more to light up than I was getting out of it.

Awesome, and keep it up! :D

Thanks

Thanks .... and I'm not almost there... I am there. I don't tell people I quit smoking... I tell 'em I don't smoke anymore.

Congrats! I sincerely hope you kick the habit for good!!

I quit about 4 months ago and it doesn't even bother me now. People smoke around me and I just dont' care. So kudos to you for trying!

Congrats to you as well. I'm actually enjoying this not smoking business. I have so much time on my hands now it's not even funny.

I heard the Chantix is hell.

Champix can bedifferent for everybody. It hasn't really bothered me and everyone I spoke to hasn't had any real issues with it. I spoke to a lot of people about it before I started the program because years ago I did the Zyban thing and I thought I was coming apart at the seams. This time around I haven't experienced any of that.

Thanks Hart. I like you as well so ya.. I don't wanna be dead quite yet. :24: Sorry to hear about your family. It's amazing that the kids pick up the same bad habit as their parents. Both my folks smoked and I suppose that helped me make my decision to start. It wasn't really a decision.. it more or less just happened. I suppose way back then when I was 13 I thought it was cool. If I could go back in time I would slip a safe over my head and fuck some sense into me. :D

Fantastic to hear friend..

Thanks

Only once has a bird got that close and that was a few weeks ago when that goose damn near took my head off. Sad thing was I didn't know he was coming until the last second. I managed to fire off a few shots but it could have been a lot better. Someone should tell 'em to honk more often. :24:

Wow! am impressed! Keep up the good work :D:thumbup

I know it must be hard doing so :( My mom is a chain smoker. She can consume 2 packs per day. She tried stopping for several times and failed. She only stopped last year when she was diagnosed to have a coronary/heart block and needed surgery. Hence my Kudos to you as you're taking it upon yourself to do so. Good job :clap

I haven't updated this for a while so there's no time like the present.

I haven't lit a smoke since I mentioned the last one. I haven't been counting the days because that really isn't important to me. What is important is I am having very few urges to smoke and when I do I blow 'em off very easily. 1 1/2 weeks ago I cut down on the Champix and went with one a day in the am because I wanted to get rid of those insane dreams. It didn't bring the urge back to smoke so last Wed. I made the decision to drop the pills altogether. That would make it about 5 1/2 weeks on the pills instead of the 10 or 12 the doctors suggest. :thumbup

If anyone wants to quit I gotta say it's never been easier for me so don't be afraid to give it a shot.

Congratulations! I smoked until about 2 years ago. I quit cold turkey and never looked back. I was always a respectful smoker, but now that I don't anymore, I don't know if I was respectful enough. Keep up the good work!:thumbup

Wow, congrats, Guyzerr!

I've quit smoking roundabout 4 years ago (that's what I think. There came the day when I began not to count the no-smoking-time anymore, but 4 years should be correct).
Quitting smoking doesn't make up wonders, but saves a lot of money and one gets rid of this disgusting odour.
I'd never start again smoking. :)

Good luck. :)

P.S.: And btw, I don't understand the part with the pills. *lol* Tried to understand it, but somehow I can't make head or tail of it. (My first thought, when reading about blue pills, was about Viagra. :24::24:)

Guy's on about the Champix pills that helped him to quit  e.g. that instead of being on them for 10-12 weeks, he was only on them for 5 and a half and not had the urge terribly to smoke. So a shorter period on them than the docs suggested he'd be.

Ya it do. It's actually amazing how much better my breathing became after just two weeks of not smoking. Now if I start coughing I'll actually be sick.
