haha... I thought someone would say something like that! :D
When I first saw that website I didnt think just clicking on those sites could help. But there are actually sponsors who have their ad under it... so I guess thats how it can work.

Kudos for you! Round where I live there is a huge amount of greyhound racing leaving loads of these beautiful dogs in need of loving homes. This is how I first thought about them as pets. My first dog died at the age of 14 after living with me for 11 years at Christmas. I got her because she was going to be shot as no good at the young age of 3. We've now got another lovely greyhound who was an unwanted retired dog called Toya, she's beautiful!:)
Respect to anyone who helps and provided loving homes to unwanted pets!:clap

Aww...what a beautiful dog! Its a shame that just because they cant "work" anymore, people dont see the need to keep them around... Kudos for YOU Peter! ;)

My parents' dog was from the ACC center. My sister and I were volunteering there and he had a cough. We were all worried that they'd put him to sleep so we adopted him. We got him my sister's freshman year of high school and now she's in her senoir year of college. Here's Colby (Ew-dog) hiding in the bathroom during a thunderstorm (he freaks out during them).

Thats great that you rescued him. I guess he is healthy then huh? Before my dad adopted the dog he has now, he saw another dog there the day before. But the next day when he came in to adopt him he found out he was too late, and they put him to sleep because they found a turmor.

Yeah, he's pretty healthy. He had a slight case of kennel cough when we got him. Now he has a quasi-allergic reaction to corn fillers in his food. He skin turns bright red if he has it for more than a day or two.

I had a greyhound once that I adopted from the racetrack. I only had her a short while, and the meter man came to read the gas meter .. and left the back gate open and she ran out. No one knew that she was gone for about an hour (I had let her out to potty and play while I did laundry and dishes .. and didn't realize that the gas man had been there. They neighbor told me who had been in my yard though, said the gas man had been to her house too and left her gate open as well).

I never saw her again :(.

She was really odd colored too. She was this light tan color and had these black whip marks all over her .. the marks looked like someone had dipped a whip in black paint and lashed her with it. Pretty cool looking dog actually.

Ah, sorry to hear that.:( Thats the thing with greyhounds, when they run you've got no fucking chance of catching them, they can also clear a six foot fence if they want to as well! Can't let my dog of the lead other than in the garden, even when I walk her on the lead she catches hedgehogs on a regular basis!

Yea, I didn't know a lot about them when I got them .. or I wouldn't have ever just let her out to begin with.

Backyard breeders are people who would pretty much breed any 2 type of fertile dogs. They dont do any kind of health screens and most dont care about the well being of the dogs... as long as they make some $.
