It did say the shepherds were in the fields with their flock indicating that it couldn't have been December as its very cold in Israel then and the sheep would be safely tucked up in the barn at that time of year.

Yup. I kinda get the feeling that if Jesus birthday was that important, he would have given it to us.
I mean, no one else gets pissed off if I forget their birthday when they didn't tell me when it was. Either Jesus is forgetful or a bit of a twat.
