It is hard to believe it has been 10 years already. Watching the coverage makes it feel like it just happened yesterday.

I am watching while I can now because in a bit, we are celebrating the hubby's birthday with his family. What an unfortunate birthday to have.

I know someone who has that birthday too.

Hard to believe that it's been ten years. I can remember the tiniest details from that day.

Sorry to hear that pj :(

My wedding day was 4 days after this disaster. We wanted to do a minutes silence in the church at our wedding. I remember watching it as it was happening. It was awful.

There's no day that's unfortunate for a birthday. if anything...this day should make us realize how lucky we are to be alive and have our loved ones close.

I agree with you completely! But whenever an occasion comes up where someone asks him his birthday, they usually respond with an "Eww" of some sort. His birthday; the one day everyone wants to have all to themselves; will forever be overshadowed by an event that changed our country forever. It just kind of sucks from his perspective.

I was at home with my son who was only 1 at the time. My daughter was in 2nd grade. Barney or something like that was on TV and I was on the phone with my friend. My neighbor came banging on my door telling me what happened. I changed the channel and what I saw sickened me. We then saw the 2nd tower hit and at that point it was a confirmed terrorist attack. I took my daughter immediately out of school even before they closed them. I had loved ones working in the city that day, though not in the WTC. All phone circuits were down so there was no getting ahold of anyone to see if they were ok. All I could do was watch helplessly while the city was being destroyed before my eyes as the towers fell. The people I knew were ok with the exception of a very good friend's brother. He was a Port Authority Police Officer. He was out of the building safely but went back in to help. That was the last thing he told his wife on the phone that day...that he was ok, but going back in. They later identified him by a piece of his finger. So many innocent people woke up on a beautiful late summer day and went to work just like any other day. Just a few hours later their lives were taken in such a horrendous way. Never forget.

OH MY!!!

I felt all emotional reading that. I too watched as the second plane hit, and it was something I never want to see again.

You see, it isn't just the people who died, and those who lost loved ones. But the heros that went back in to save people and lost their life too. Sad sad times!!!

There was an interesting documentary on Lifetime Movie Network (out of all channels lol) that just showed first hand video coverage of the attacks and everything that was going on through camcorders etc.

That's true, didn't think of it that way, right away.

Happy birthday to your hubby, btw, hope it's a good one.

It never gets easier.

I'm with Fuzz. Thanks to the military for everything they've done.

I cried then, and I cried today. Living on the other side of the country, we didn't get pulled out of school or anything, but I did have family that worked in NYC that we couldn't get ahold of. Fortunately everyone came out okay, but even today...it's one of the hardest things to think about. I was 13 at the time...and I, like most people, will probably always remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when it happened.

It's surreal to think about how the attack feels like it just happened yesterday, but then you consider everything that has happened in the last 10 years..and it feels like it was so long ago.

:(

Re: We will never forget!

I'm in the military myself. Thank you for the support but today is about the innocent lives taken by the Bush administration. This tool used to support a horrific 2 front war that is tearing the fabric of an entire population of peoples. Please watch the accredited and official documentary of the statistical and first hand story's of the Wikileaks files.

God bless America and may she one day be returned to the hands of true patriots!

A guy from my town lost his life in this attack. It wasn't just an American tragedy, it was a world wide tragedy. R.I.P. all those who lost their lives.
