the same politicians who bitched and whined about all the money spent on iraq and afghanistan during the elections just approved this.

how awesome is that? and you fucking suckers eat the bullshit they spoon feed you about opposing the wars and not wanting to fund this and that and they almost unanimously voted to approve of this budget. you people are idiots.

and here's the kicker!!!


But the $124 billion approved for ongoing wars probably will not be enough to cover President Barack Obama's plans to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan.

Congress eliminated funding for Lockheed-Martin Corp's F-22 fighter jet, but provided 10 more Boeing Co C-17 transport planes than the Pentagon asked for, at a cost of $2.5 billion.
The Pentagon keeps alive two programs the Pentagon did not seek to fund: the troubled VH-71 presidential helicopter program and an alternate engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, made by General Electric Co and Britain's Rolls-Royce Group Plc.
The Pentagon said it would not recommend a veto despite the unwanted measures.

WTF? they eliminate one thing but kept two, which the pentagon didnt want and isnt going to press the issue on? this means money will be wasted. AWESOME! after all its not really their money so why should they give a fuck, right?

No one can deny that there is massive waste in our military, but there is massive waste in every other other government department. The money allocated for the war is mandatory. Even Obama knows these guys must be stopped before another 9/11 is pulled. Those who voted for Obama convinced he'd pull us out of the Middle East had their heads up their butts; he merely told them what they wanted to hear.

It gets in my craw that we can spend $800 billion on a bullshit sham of a "stimulus" pork bill, but $2.5 billion for F-22s to maintain air supremacy for the foreseable future is just "too much".....

Its going to be sad when we get involved in a real fight against a real power instead of against half ass third world air forces, and we have to pay that bill in blood instead of $$$..
 
it chaps my ass that with bush people wouldnt shut up about how horrible the government is and how we shouldnt be having these wars so they vote this guy in and he's doing the same thing bush was doing and the people who voted him in are saying nothing about this shit.

This is the kind of bullshit rationalization that drives me nuts. Waste is waste & we need to get rid of it when and where we can. Why do they ask the experts (the Pentagon) if they're only going to do what their lobbyists tell them?

If memory serves, the Pentagon didn't want the F-22 in the first place, but congress ordered them anyway.

I agree. The Pentagon has become a laughing stock when it comes to wasting tax dollars. However, because of their responsibility to protect the USA, we need them, and it's sad to say that we must rely on their judgement for the overall outcome. Surely you would not deny that the US military is the strongest and most efficient in world history. I would love to reduce waste in government departments, but if there is one department that in my opinion gets a little more leeway, it is the military.

This is the sad state of affairs that result when you have the aftermath of Bush and his bullshit.

It gave Obama and the liberals a mandate to do stupid stuff and get away with it.

Did you not pay attention to his campaign? He made it very clear that he wanted to get the troops out of Iraq and send in more troops to Afghanistan during his presidential campaign. He is doing exactly what he said he was going to do... so why should his supporters give him grief about Afghanistan?

Didn't you read the OP? Earmarks don't come from the Pentagon. They come from Congress, and Congress is ordering aircraft the Pentagon doesn't even want.

I agree. Personally, I think Obama is crazy, but what can I say, I like the guy. His promises were nothing actually more than ambition and idealism. I didn't vote this year and I never will. I'd sell me vote for 20 dollars...or best offer...

Instead you choose to be irrelevant to those who only listen to the tally of the vote. I would prefer that you choose to be relevant, even if your vote cancels mine out. :thumbup
