Hasn't the end of the world plot been done to death no pun intended? Did they like just recycle Knowing?

1) 2012 has a much different plot than Knowing
2) Even though I think Nicolas Cage is a badass, 2012 is going to be a far more entertaining film than Knowing
3) You can never have enough disaster/end of the world movies!

But yeah I think the movie looks kinda decent, I'm probably going to go see it
