no it is a CAI (Cold Air Intake) and adds minimal powr but provides better flow. so yes it is better for performance and mpg. atleast you got exhaust right :tard
where would i go to have this done, and what would the cost be around.thanks for the come back guys :D

i onyl glanced through this but yeah.... dodges are pretty ugly and dont run long. i have seen brand new dodge tear apart by the seems in a matter of months. I will admit that the new dodge truck look ok if they are matched with a good set of visual options not to mention the preformance and handling options but i still think all dodges are ugly. I want to vomit everytime i see a 2005 durango or a 2005 dakota those are so fucking ugly!

a cold air intake replaces your stock air intake rubber tubing with aluminum straighter even diameter tubing with a better flowing air filter. i got mine off ebay for 45 bucks shipped and installed it within 30 minutes or so. i later went to lowe's (hardware store) and purchadsed 4" diameter ducting and hose clamps and extended my air intake from the fenderwell to where my foglights should be. this allows me to have a "ram air" effect at higher speeds and i am pulling the air from lower to the ground to get colder/denser air which is what is better for performance and economy.

i will search for some before and after pics of my engine compartment for you :D

sorry i dont have any before pics but here is my intake now...

album_pic.php

the aluminum tubing comes off of my throttle body and comes down to my mass air flow sensor and then into my fender area. then i have ductwork from the inner fender to fog light with filter mounted there...

I was going to run mine down to the fog light too. But I got to thinking about all the rain I get around here and thought mayb i shouldn't.

Thinking about fabricating a scoop down there and running it up to the filter.

i live in ga and it has been raining a lot lately but it hasnt hindered performance at all. one thing i noticed is at speeds over 105mph the check engine light blinks so i think i ram too much air in and fuck up my air/fuel ratio? i dunno. it did it 3x with the blinking over 105 or so but i dont drive that fast anytime really, i was just testing it out. the air sound is louder and at 45mph you can hear a constant whistle of rushing air. as long as i dont drive through puddles i should be fine.

i know march makes a ram air scoop and rubber ducting kit for 100 bucks or so that goes from factory air box to under bumper with a scoop. i wouldnt payy 100 bucks for something i could fabricate for 30. i didnt buy a scoop b/c i couldnt find one to fit the fog light area. so i ended up mounting the conical filter vetically at the fog light so i get the same effect.

If i go over 80 with the convertible top up. The air turbulrnce is to much. it feels like the top will be ripped off. But I digress from the topic. I've seen those ram airs by March. I'm not doing anymore to the car until i replace the engine.

Good thing mine's a '99 model.
Whew.
Thought I was gone hafta choke somebody.
You saved your own ass on that one, buddy.

The new ones do look like shit! I liked the old model. And I'm a Dodge lover too!

*Thinks* I'll have to get one of those GAI's on my Mach...who sells it? Summit?

yes and also handheld tuners such as the Xcalibrator and diablosport predator... they can alter shift points and redline as well as other cool stuff. after i get my gears installed i am getting a handheld tuner to "adapt" my cars computer to the new ratio...
