Just been watching a documentary about this Manx 14 year old girl who is huge in Japan. I really dont understand all this anime stuff at all but I found the whole thing uncomfortable. Her youtube male viewers are mainly in their 40s, her manager says that Japan is more open that the rest of the world and lusting after young girls isn't wrong there and she has middle aged men who are huge fans sending her really expensive presents. I just found the whole thing distasteful. From what I gather she's famous because she dances around looking sweet and innocent on the internet and her parents really dont have a problem with this, in fact they came across as just using her to get rich. What do you think? This is the stuff that she's famous for......

These are some of the comments left on youtube for this video today....

The documentry made me uncomfortable too for a couple of reasons. I couldn't care if she wants to upload videos of her dancing, but I do think her costumes are just a bit too... lolita. I know it is a different culture in Japan and the outfits wouldn't go amiss there, and we are looking at it with our Western biases, but it just makes me uncomfortable. She isn't a Japanese girl and perhaps she should think about how it looks to a Western audience.

Like the other girl in the documentry who said men left comments saying they could see her knickers and she now checks her videos to make sure she can't see them or her bra strap. Well.. if she wore a decent outfit no one would!

The thing that disturbed me the most was her parents. Like the fan who sends her expensive gifts, her parents tell her to talk to him and everything and she said herself she was uncomfortable with him. Surely her parents should be protecting her from people like that and if a fan is making her uncomfortable, to stop communication. It seems to me that her parents are just pushing her for fame and I do wonder how much she really wants it. Like the photo shoot for a "lad's magazine",it did seem to me her mum was more interested in it and pushing her to do it.

I think she's being exploited for monetary gain and it's just plain wrong. And the guys that send her gifts and watch her are fucking perverts! Her parents are scum and she's a little stupid or maybe not...:dunno

That's the problem, from what she said in the Documentry, she isn't getting much money!

She is starting her final two years at school when she has all her exams, and her parents were saying they want to earn at least £50,000 in those two years or the whole thing would be worthless. They didn't even seem that interested in her education :thumbdown

Did you notice the slip of the tongue too from her dad when he said "we...erm..she wants to earn £50K in those two years"? :thumbdown

The age range were actually people in their 50s

The father, a police officer said that people get whacked off at children in catalogues so doesn't find anything wrong with his daughter being popular in Japan pretending to be an anime character

she dances like a dork...

In Japan, it's pretty acceptable for men to be attracted to 14 year old girls. It was in the west less than 100 years ago. As long as they're not doing anything to her, it's not a problem. But I think the parents should be shielding the kid a lot more, she shouldn't have to actually communicate with creepy guys...

is that the sole reason she's doing it? for their benefit? I'm sure she enjoys being a star. There's plenty of kids these days that love putting crap up on youtube, they can't control who sees it or whether they're rubbing one out as they do or not.

the parents really should be shielding her from contact with her viewers.

Are you serious?

Serious about what? Would you stop your child having fun, as far as I can see there is no sexual connotation in the way she dances. Whether people whack off to her it is their problem they have to control, not for society to stop people having innocent fun.

And you can't say that all older men have devious ideas about Becky, that is just not right, it could be an innocent curiosity about her
