Ah well you are in good company my dear. But it all has a funny way of unravelling itself, doesn't it. You think you know what you want...pursue it...and what you thought you wasn't isn't, but along the way you discover what it is that you want...or you make a change and go for it and it's all good in the hood. Either way, you figure out what it is you want so it's a win win.
