i hunted one time up in the Minden City Swamps. my pilot who I trusted (my roomate at the time) ended up getting us lost in the pitch dark woods for hours. that was about 30 years ago. never went hunting again for dear. my wife and i did a tiny bit of small game when first married but none since.
I think when you did you turn into ashes or worm meal

my buddy took us too deep into the woods to begin with and then waited til pitch dark to leave. took 10 steps and then the dreaded oh!! came from his lips. lost the friggin compass.
20 miles of walking and it was all good. kind of until after getting drunk at the bar and then going to the car and the bolts falling out of the transmission.
