IMHO we can decide best under some parameters to compare them, maybe technically, BUT its not about bests its about favorites...

So for me is Justin Chancellor of Tool i just love how he uses the whammy... and Simon Gallup from The Cure

I think a bassist that gets overlooked every once in a while (possible for being so mainstream?) is Flea. Not necessarily the best, but damn good.

Meh. CLaypool is original as hell. But I wouldnt consider him the BEST. Just my opinion though.

Geddy Lee is the man. And Rush's bass play gets overlooked severly because everybody goes gah gah over Peart.
