So I was just wondering, since you've got your hearing back, what kind of music have you found you like and dislike and the same about which artists you like and dislike? I find this very interesting to know because you haven't had the kind of influences on this which shape ouur tastes that most of us have growing up.:)

I'm interested in your POV of living in the hearing world as well.
What sounds are pleasing to you? Which annoy you?
Have you developed a degree of comfort in interacting in a world of sound?

i think (being deaf in my left ear since age 2) that it heightens my sense of listening to people...and can hear things that most others can't. we all take it for granted we do have some semblance of the five senses.....but I remember being blindsided once when I was young....
told the guy I didn't hear him coming...I told him I was deaf and his reply?
"You don't look deaf"

A general question to anyone. If you are deaf, can you still pick up sounds through vibrations? Difficult to adequately explain, but I'm sure you get the gist of the question.

I never had hearing in the first place so I didn't really get it back. It's completely new to me. :)
The kind of music I like is mostly instrumental music. The kind of music that is on movie soundtracks.
Here is the first music I ever hear and remains my favorite.

My favorite sound is running water. Sometimes I like to turn a faucet on and just listen to the water run.
Some sounds I can't stand are sirens, horns, the lawn mower. God I hate the lawn mower.
I have become pretty comfortable with sounds but will admit it still gets overwhelming sometimes. When that happens I simply don't use my implant.

I've been told that before. lol

Yes you can. I used to feel music by touching the speaker and could feel thunder during a storm. :)

Good stuff. I guess gentle music is a good first step as opposed to a lot of really intense music which must be rather over whelming at first. Really glad you can enjoy it now. A lot of us probably dont really appreciate a lot of things we take for granted.:)

Very neat, I didn't know you can experience something like that. Wish there was a way for my mom but that's okay.

The really intense music tends to all blend together into a giant noise.
