I don't know if I'll do The Host... sounds too out there for me. I struggled with the addition to the vampires in book two- was a huge stretch for my imagination.

I feel like the only person on earth who doesn't like Twilight, in fact who is annoyed by Twilight and the obsessiveness around it. In my humble opinion, Twilight et al do categorically not qualify as literature.

I was just talking to a buddy last night about these books. I haven't been much of a reader since I graduated high school, but I'm thinking of getting them. I'm hoping to get the books soon.

I REALLY think you will enjoy them. I didnt think I would like them, being that it is about vampires ( I thought it sounded cheesy) but I thought what the hell, I will try the first book to see if I like it since everyone was carrying on about how good they were. I could NOT put the book down once I got started reading it. VERY good books! :thumbup

hehehehehehehehehe.... well, 'literature' is a big word for these books. But they, along w/the Harry Potter series, got my kid to read for pure enjoyment's sake. I think that's pretty cool.

I liked both HP & the Twilight series'.

I agree w/Satin that every girl needs an Edward. Or a Jacob if you prefer Wolves:ninja

While the Twilight series is good (yes I have read all the books) I have to say it bugs me. There are so many other good books and authors in the world, some that never even get published, and yet this series get's so much attention and money. I have read far better books that will never see the light of day, because people read series like this 10 times in a row, instead of picking up one they have never heard of at the library.

so i googled midnight sun and got the draft and also found a note by stephanie meyers that said this :

So where does this leave Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.

That was posted in August of last year. I did more research and I think I found that of last month (maybe) she hadn't changed her mind. :(

I'm going to reread the series this summer. It'll give me something to do.

ok so i recently re read the series and then last night after posting that i read midnight sun

it was actually really interesting to see things from edwards eyes - i really wish she would go on with it

i think it is stupid that she isn't going to. i actually kind of doubt that she isn't going to - she would make so much money.

I think it's kind of... well rude if she doesn't. I mean there are so many authors trying to make out there, and she has all the readers wrapped around her little finger, with one of the greatest literature opportunities in the world, and she won't finish the book just to make a point?

I read all of them and enjoyed them, but I'll have to say I am not as obsessed with Edward/Twilight as other girls.

Nor am I. I read "Interview with a Vampire" when I was about 14. I was obsessed w/Lestat for awhile there..... But Edward? Too sweet. I prefer Dark, thank you very much. But again, I liked the books. But Anne Rice kicked some serious ass first! Those weren't kids books.

Thank you. I did, actually, read them all. I wasn't planning on it after I finished the first one, but my friend handed the last 3 to me, and I read them on Christmas break.

I feel like the books could have been better if they'd been heavily edited. I thought the story was interesting, but the writing just didn't deliver. Very good marketing, though.

i don't think Harry Potter belongs in the same category.

Harry Potter is WAY better than not only these books but books I have read by people like Jodi Picoult and Stephen King - which isn't saying much, but still
