Ok, this is something that has been bothering me since I first heard this (poor excuse for a) song. To me, it sounds like they've taken Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Green Day), Wonderwall (Oasis) and a song called Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough (Patti Smyth & Don Henley) Feel free to add your own!

I know I'm gonna sound like a old person, but goddammit! In my day, people actually wrote their own music! If George Harrison can get sued for My Sweet Lord, why has no-one commented on the blatant plagarism in this shit!?

Am I the only one who sees it?

Plagiarising songs is just a lazy attempt at making music. We need more artists that put originality and innovation into their music. Too many generic and unoriginal bands these days.

Exactly my point. I'm picking on this song in particular coz it's getting flogged on the radio right now, and every time I hear it I wonder when Oasis or Green Day are gonna start claiming their royalties! But there's a lot of it going on.

Never thought 'd say it, but oh, for the good old days!

Hmmm...I can see what you mean, but I don't think it's that noticeable, really. Just one of those "hey, that kinda sounds like _____________________."

Simple Plan sucks anyway, nobody says anything about them stealing music, cuz they aren't making any money anyways lol

Yeah no kidding. They're a sad excuse for a band.
Besides, if they rip off better songs, it would be an improvement.

Yeah I totally hear it lol, It's so obvious.

Sometimes it can be accidental, there's a song by Rory Gallagher called Shadow Play, and it sounds remarkabley like the more famous Sultans of Swing by Dire Straights.
I think Sultans of Swing came out slightly before, but we're talking a few months, so it would just be a case of two musicians writing a similar song I would imagine.

Just for reference if anyone is interesting in hearing the similarities:

Sultans of Swing:

Shadow Play
