ok james......dont you think things would be so much better environmentally wise if engines were smaller......your right on the testing though.......my 1.6 deisel turbo is worth about 120mph,whats the point of more?.......it'll pull a caravan,take 5 people and is cleaner emissions wise than a 4 litre engine for instance

No it's not. I could drive a 1984 Mustang GT and have performed all the regular tune ups and check ups and put out less emissions than a 1984 Escort which has an engine that is falling apart.

Bigger does not always equal more pollution. A lot of it has to do with maintenance.

Considering emissions covers *all* things put out the tailpipe, obviously the 4 LITER

Depends.

The 4 liter may have 4 catalytic converters while the 2 liter only has one or two, but they could both be classified as ULEV vehicles. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 7.0L Corvette Z06 LS6 drop 500 hp and get something like 25 mpg city? That's impressive for an 11 second car, and will equal what I get in the city when I bust through my gears in my dinky 1.6L engine.

Let's not turn this thread into a stupid, endless debate about gas prices and whatnot. The point is, I have an Explorer because I don't like cars(Too low to the ground for my taste. I'm tall, and don't like having to hold on to the seat to stand up out of my vehicle), I need the room(Stuff like when I have a lot of friends, or need the trunk space), and I tow stuff quite a bit. I don't really give a shit about the environment, because as I said, just one person using a small car won't stop pollution. Sure, my gas prices suck, $20 only gets me a 1/4 tank(My sister has a Grand Am, and $20 gets her 1/2), but I like my car, and obviously I can afford the gas, so don't bother me about that shit. If you don't like my choice in a vehicle, don't reply in the thread.
