it's a secret initiation ritual. i can't tell you exactly what it involves, but it definitely doesn't have anything to do with your rep, time you spend on the forums, or your post count. and tim certainly didn't rig the site to automatically give people VIP status when theyve gotten certain points to anything i just said.
