Why do you believe in god and why do you shun religion?
Personally, I believe in a creator because of nature. it's so awesome that it seems like someone has designed it and the've done a great job too!

I dont like religion though as it seems to be all about unnatural rules, intolerance and hate.
 
Anyway, repling on-topic now. I guess I would consider myself to be a agnostic theist. I'd like to think that there was somesort of afterlife and that the world was created by a supernatural being, but I could be swayed over to atheism quite easily however.

I'm not really a big fan of religion, pretty much for the reasons Peter Parka mentioned above. But I do admire what they do for the community, espically in my neighbourhood.

Nah, no problem, I just guess I didn't realise how complicated agnostism is, lol!;)

Agnostics don't believe in god. or fully, for that matter.



And a major UGH at the design argument. :yuk

Are you so simple minded you still dont get what I'm asking? Do I need to make another thread or something even though you're clearly not interested?

You can describe yourself as being a non-denominational spiritualist.
 
Don't you hate it when you would sincerely like to discuss something and people come along with semantics & take your thread way off topic? :p

Because that is what Christ did. He shunned religion and spoke Truth.

And much of it is. Man took God's Word and warped it. That is exactly what was done in the Bible - God's Word with man's stipulations added to it. This is what Christ came to set straight. [sarcasm]But the religious folks didn't want to loose their power, money, and prestige ... because that is what it was all about right? It was about how much they knew, how much they could do, how they were so righteous to judge, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah[/sarcasm]

I'm not agnostic ... I'm a disciple of Christ that belongs to no denomination. I am saved by grace and have a love relationship with the Lord. I worship God with other believers that love me and love the Lord. I hope you don't mind that I posted even though I don't consider myself 'agnostic'. :)
 
I do not know if God exists or if God does not exist, and I could care less (though I do lean more towards doesn't exist). However I have more important things in life than to continuously ponder God's existence.

However, I'm not the type of person to seriously dislike someone for believing in God.

All I ask is that they respect my views, and I'll respect their views.
