Anyone want to write a report?

Here's the deal, I haven't been here in a while, I have a report on Hamlet, and I don't wanna do it. I don't necessarily have to have someone write a report but it would be nice if you guys could discuss these three points for me to write on, I only need about 500 words.

-Many experts feel that Hamlet's third soliloquy, instead of reading "to be, or not to be," should say "to act, or not to act."

-Consider Hamlet's tragic flaw of indecision and how it changed the entire course of the play.

-Compare and contrast Hamlet with his three foils - Fortinbras, Horatio, and Laertes.

I hated Hamlet and I didn't understand it. Help a guy out.

Point one, they need to be shot, it is a play within a play, but come on...

Point two - The play is about indecision, without it, he would have bumped Claudius of at the first opportunity.

Point Three - Fortinbrass.. Noble, strong minded, didn't suffer from indesicion. Laertes - twat. And horatio a noble servant, and a complete fucking wimp.

Hamlet is my favourite work by shakes, and one of my faves of all time... If you want greater detail.. I'll be more than happy.

The whole soliloquy is not about him acting, at this point, he already has decided this. This is about whether it is better to die or to live in in the knowledge of King Hamlets demise. He knows at this point that it is not going to end well if he carries out his plan. He is not, like many think, contemplating suicide, he is simply wondering whether to kill Claudius... this being an extension of his inaction, the reason why the whole thing is 3 hours long and not 20 mins is his inaction

I fucked Hamlet up myself this year so I don't think I'm in any position to help, Exams where you can't take the book in are bloody hard

On hte suicidal level it is that, he discusses whether the noble course of option would be to end it all, or suffer through life - I believe he wants to kill himself but it's the fear of the unknown thereafter that prevents it.

I never liked this idea, to me Hamlet was a lot of things but greatly indecisive? He did away with Polonius without a moments hesitation.

-Compare and contrast Hamlet with his three foils - Fortinbras, Horatio, and Laertes.
Fortinbras is supposed to be the Norwegian Hamlet, although his role is so minor I don't know how people came up with that analogy.
Laertes is easier, he is the perfect example of the Revenge Tragedy genre hero that derived from Seneca, much like Hamlet.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEK! I think this may be a reason why you 'fucked up' . I'm going to fall back on my English degree hear and that fact I aced Hamlet and Shakey, and say, the play IS ALL about indecision. He killed Polonious on instinct, that very instinct that he fights all the way thought out the play. His instinct/gut (if you will) says to do it, his heart is too moral to act. Hence To be or not to be speech!

That's what makes the play so damn good. When he finally acts. It's ALL to late.

lol, my exam was on Polonius I think so Hamlet didn't really come up, no the real reason it all went wrong (I say wrong, I scraped a C) was just idleness, I couldn't be bothered to learn the text and i suffered because of it. Nothing against Hamlet as a play itself, just my laziness hehe

Personally I think Hamlet's soliloquy is about suicide. He hesitates because he's not sure what awaits him after his death. However he is afraid of what he may have to suffer my living. Just my two cents.
