Possibly the most pessimistic album ever to reach #1, The Wall also addressed childhood, education and marriage, finding all of these passages to be dehumanizing. The Wall, the most theatrical and complex stage show that rock had ever seen, was performed 24 times in multi-night stands at four places - London, Los Angeles, Long Island and Dortmund, Germany. During the performance, an actual “wall” was constructed in front of the band, and its collapse at the end provided a fitting denouement.

The Wall
was subsequently revived by Roger Waters for a star-studded staging in Berlin in 1990, to commemorate the unification of East and West Germany. Performances from the Pink Floyd’s original staging of the epic saw release in 2000 as The Wall Live: 1980-81.

The collapse of the Berlin wall memorial 1990
Roger Waters is joined by a star studded cast:

Titbits:

Pink Floyd’s hallucinatory presentation of lights and music at London’s Roundhouse in 1966 brought psychedelia to the U.K. scene. The group carried rock and roll into a dimension that was more cerebral and conceptual than what preceded it. What George Orwell and Ray Bradbury were to literature, Pink Floyd is to popular music, forging an unsettling but provocative combination of science fiction and social commentary. In their early years, with vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Syd Barrett at the helm, Pink Floyd were the psychedelic Pied Pipers of the “London underground” scene.

In the Seventies, with bassist Roger Waters providing more of the songwriting and direction, Pink Floyd became one of the most influential rock bands of all time.

A stunning band - great, amazing songs, performances and so glad I got to see them once - that one time though, has never left my memory.

Music like theirs and other bands around this era, are just so electrifying and moving...;)

Hummmm, I have to say that for me personally, I think she weakened the song - she was too weak against their music.

Not to me. I love the way she did it. Everything. And I liked the appearance of that weird guy with the portable organ which for the life of me can't recall his name right now. You remember his name? Anyone?

You went to a Pink Floyd concert?

Yep - I mentioned to you before at some point.

They were amongst other bands - such as Queen, on their 'Magic' tour and their very last tour, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins on his 'I'm still standing' tour, plus others.

That was just the once I got to see them collectively, but not any of them individually - that is something I always wish I could have chance to do, but never got the chance. :(

Whoa. That's some good bands right there. Would have loved to see Queen with Freddy Mercury performing.

Yeah, I cried when Queen came on stage - the atmosphere was the most amazing I had ever been in. Mindblowing time that night was. There were some great bands as you say. :)

No probs. Their loss.

It really doesn't bother me much at this point who joins in or not. Who's in...in. Who's out...out. I'm enjoying doing it. It's great music.

Ohhhhhhhh, a massively excellent track that one CB^^^^

You know what though, I keep having the vids keep sticking when trying to listen to them.

I did download a thing to be able to listen to them, maybe realplayer or something, but I thought I didn't need it and went to delete it from my programmes, but it didn't all delete - however, since I did that, vids are not playing too well anymore. :(

Anyway, love that last track^^^^ :)
