YAY! You will not regret it i promise!!! Even just renting is way better than renting an apartment! Also look into first time homebuyer programs and other federally aided financial programs. I know if youd on't have a downpayment saved up there is one that gives you a govt loan (cheaper than bank loan) for $10,000 or so for that. Good luck!!!
