i've used lawyer before for many different things....if you ask for a detailed bill, it should entail everything she or her assistant has done.

You'd be shocked to know that they will charge for every phone call made, every piece of paper they used to print your documents on, every time they faxed something, signed something, etc.

It's ridiculous.

I don't know the details of your case but being a paralegal I can tell you that if you signed an hourly contract and that is what she is using, $1000 isn't hard to rack up. Whether she goes to court or not, everytime she works on ANY documents related to your case, makes or takes any phone calls, mails something, ANYthing at all involving your case, the time ticks.

That reminds me of a certain episode of Frasier. I dont know if you guys watch that show or not.
But Frasier was dating a lawyer and she would charge for every little thing! Her and Frasier were on a date and her client called her on her cell phone and the second she picked her cell phone, she set the timer on her watch and charged for every minute she was on the phone with the client!
I guess they sometimes do that in real life too! Sounds like they'll rob you blind right before your own eyes!
