cool, I wrote a flamenco metal song, ahavo ravo scale, a shortened version of the minor pentatonic, played horizontal on the neck, not in a scale shape, in drop D tuning, sounded great!
I mainly play bluesy-rocky stuff, wanna be Vaughan and Hendrix. I can also play shredding stuff like Vai and Satriani (though don't really like that anymore) and often like to play classical pieces.
On acoustic, I mainly play songs that I can sing![]()
cool mate, Van Halen is a god, I learnt to tap from Eruption![]()
Yeah some pretty cool tapping from Van Halen, I once played 'hot for teacher' at a gig, when we were having problems getting the mic working![]()
My fave piece on the bass is of course pulling teeth - Cliff Burton ruled, and I was so proud when I learned that...
I try to stay away from learning alot of covers. Im trying to develop my own style without alot of influence.
I'm stumped when people ask me to play something, I know 2 metallica albums, and a few Slayer and Pantera songs off by heart lol
I'll get inspired by artists though. But I wont try and learn their songs. I'll get ideas off any guitarist or bass player and go home and start fuckin with it. Its been a slow, but steady process. I've seen alot of improvement in the last six months. My finger movement is getting better. My plucking and slides are nice. My slapping and popping is comming along. Im proud of myself.![]()
I think that you have to be inspired somewhere along the way, as we all take the bits that we like from hearing someone and trying to amalgamate into our own techniques. The problem is when it turns to imitation... Which you sound to be doing well to avoid![]()
good on ya Bommz!
Be inspired, but never imitate ^^
Ever have that dream guitar? I know I have one. The one guitar at the store that you dont even want to touch because it looks so awesome and you dont want to fuck it up. Show us a pick and tell us what you like about it!
Mine would have to be this Dean Dime Razorback. Partly cause its Dime's style and partly because I fucking love the body. But also, Dean makes a nice guitar with a good feel at a reasonable price.
