It just became official today. Toshiba is abandoning HD-DVD.

What are you talking about? Blu-Ray has much higher storage capacity, faster read times to access that data, it's supported by more platforms, has more movies available than HD DVD, same resolutions as HD DVD, all protections will be cracked....
Blu-Ray has more going for it than HD DVD... especially when you consider the difference in storage capacity.
BluRay 50gig, HD-DVD had a 51gig disc.
It was common knowledge that HD DVD had better features and functionality.
DVD = 4.7GB (single layer) 8.5GB (dual layer)
HD DVD = 15GB (single layer) 30GB (dual layer) 51GB (prototype triple layer)
Blu-Ray = 25GB (single layer) 50GB (dual layer) 100GB (prototype quad layer)
HD DVD = 15GB (single layer) 30GB (dual layer) 51GB (prototype triple layer)
Blu-Ray = 25GB (single layer) 50GB (dual layer) 100GB (prototype quad layer)
Everything will goto DVR type stuff anyways.
