internet chat forums? I ask this because my activities on internet forums have been a somewhat unconscious process, so I never really stopped to think of WHY I enjoy them until tonight.

So, whats the TOP (one) reason you enjoy these forums?

I thought of quite a few reasons why I like these forums, but the top reason would have to be that they allow for structured dialogue that simply isn't possible in the real world. It seems like everytime one tries to discuss something with friends/family/collegues, the topic gets derailed two statements into it. Admittedly, thread-jacking does occasionally occur, but not nearly as quickly or as often as in real-time discussions. :humm:That may be one of the main reasons I've never really been into Webchat.

OH...Well I just never really made any friends since I moved up here to the New England area. It's kind of hard to get to know people around here. Or maybe it isn't them, maybe I just have a really bad case of anti-socialism? lol..........Oh well, I'm ok with being a loner :D

i stopped drinking but i haven't stopped partying. i still party with my friends. i like to come here to chill. to get away from everyone and just be myself. i don't have to worry about what im saying because false rumors don't get spread here. trish, cybercooky, silentbob and lonewolf understand what i mean
 
Not too sure bout other chat forums. Some of them can be downright abusive so I'm going to base my opinion on this one, which is the only one I choose to be on.

I like/enjoy this forum for the opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics and knowing that in basically real time, or at one's own leisure, contributions are made from people across the globe separated only via the medium used to process the communication. To be able to do this in a fairly respectable manner and environment, all things considered. The sharing of ideas and opinions from people of all walks of life and varied experiences making an input to contribute to the whole whether it be to discuss serious issues, to enlighten, to offer support and/or to just kick back and share a few laughs in the midst of all the hustle and bustle.

That basically sums it up for me.
 
To me it's like a better version of the pub because I don't have to go out and spend over the odds on booze. I can also pick and choose what I want to talk about, don't have to worry about walking home in the freezing cold, don't have to worry about drunks starting fights. I can also look after the missus too at the same time as being on here without having to worry if she's ok like when I'm out at the pub.
 
I'm a part of only two forums...this one and a fairly new one. I LOVE this place because of the people here, you can talk and laugh and bitch and cry and still be there for each other at the end of the day....can't ask for much more!
