Just got back from Wal Mart.........emptyhanded :mad

Went to get groceries. Got to the checkout, ran my debit card, it came back use alternate tender, action declined :wtf: I just used it twice earlier today and my paycheck was JUST deposited into my account yesterday. I dont know what the crap the deal is, there is money in there. And of course I didnt have any cash or checkbook with me to pay for the groceries.
I felt like a complete fool walking out the store and leaving my buggy of groceries there. Quite embarrassing.

This could have happen under these circumstances .. just because your check normally clears your account the next day .. don't count on it .. banks usually have signs posted that state that they have 3-5 days to make the money available in your account.

If your other debits were small .. you probably had enough money to cover those, but not your groceries; because your check hasn't "actually" cleared your account.

Hope this helps. :)

I had that happen to me one time and the debit card company told me that sometimes if people use a card more than twice in a day, especially in a window of say three hours, they will halt any transactions after two because they are being cautious in case someone had stolen my card and tried to use it fast before the money ran out.

That very well may be what the deal is. Tried to find out by calling the # on the back of my card and sat on hold for 17 minutes to finally get someone to help me and the operator accidentally hung up on me :willy_nilly:

:homo: I suspect this is the case.

You know 1 thing that is bothering even more than this debit card crap?

Is what me and my 2 girls saw as we were heading to the checkouts. We were behind this mom and dad and their 2 kids. Dad was holding the baby and mom was walking beside the little boy ( I would guess he was between 4-5 yrs of age). I couldnt really hear exactly what the mom and dad were talking about but I could tell they were bickering back and forth about something. Next thing I know, we see the mom backhand the little boy across the cheek. He stops in the middle of the aisle, drops the toy he had in his hand and crys. The mom keeps walking, straight to the doors to exit out the store and the dad keeps walking to find a check-out. They both just left that little boy standing there crying. It broke my heart. People were staring, he was crying so loud.
Me and my girls stopped in mid-step and just stood there staring at the boy thinking that 1 of the parents would come back to him and realize that he wasnt with them. Neither one of them came back right away so I had Brianna (my 10 yr old) go get one of the employees that was standing behind a podium to come help him.
I dont know what happened after that. I didnt want to get myself involved but I didnt want that little boy to be left standing there alone.
Now its bugging the crap out of me, and my girls too. They keep bringing it up.

That is terrible! I cannot understand how parents can treat their child that way. :mad

I know. Years ago, I was in the mall, at the ATM, and not far from me was this woman and this little boy about 3 ...maybe. And this other woman with her. He kept wiggling on the wall that was adjacent to this fountain, so she picked him up and slammed him back down on the wall, and yelled, "NEXT TIME, I BREAK YOUR HIPS, BOY!"

I was like...in utter shock. :(

When my son was 3 or 4 we were at Sears (they have good kids clothes) getting him some daycare clothes .. and this black lady was in there with a little girl about my son's age.

They have toys scattered all over the place, of course in sure hopes that a kid will pitch a fit for one and a sucker parent will give in and buy one.

Well this poor little girl was no different and of course she wanted the toy. You can always tell the kids that aren't made to mind at home, but the parent thinks they are gonna make them mind out in public .. which never ever works.

The woman evidently had heard enough .. so she yanked (keep in mind this is a 2-3 yr old little girl) up by her arm .. off the ground .. and swung her over in front of her and yelled "shut up!" in her face .. then plopped her back down.

The child was screaming, crying, and just a wreck .. I had Drake in a stroller .. so I parked him and steppe dup in front of her and very dryly told her "if you ever so much as look at that child cross again .. and I happen to see you .. I'm going to do exactly what you did to her .. to you .. and then I'll call the police".

Then I just looked at her sternly. She looked terrified, like she hadn't done anything wrong. Hopefully it made her think a little bit.

I hate people who hurt children .. spankings are one thing .. trying to rip their arms out of their sockets (which isn't hard to do to a child of that age) .. is another thing. :mad
