I found out in November my cousin Kristal was preggo, shes wonderful with the 2 she already has but I was kind of in awwwee because she isn't working and has 2 kids already and her husband doesn't make very much as a Policeman/Fireman. Well anyways, I told my mother I'm surpised Jennifer (her older sister) isn't having a third child. My mom says she probably would but she doesn't want another one with Shonne (her hubby), because he doesn't help take care of the 2 he already has.
something that kinda made me think...

What made me think is why would one have another child when they already have 2 even with parental support when their income is pretty poor. And why would somebody stay with a guy who likes to party all the time and not take care of his children?

In the United States it is overestimated what is needed (money wise) to raise a child. Can you provide a roof, food, clothes, and love for your kid? Well there you go.
In the US we think our kids have to be into everything and have everything (materialistic). You don't need all of that. At least not imo.
My husband and I choose to be 'home poor' (so to speak) until our kids were all in school - as we didn't want a 'day care' raising our kids, nor did we want to 'switch off' and have one spouse working alternative times because we wanted to nourish the 'family unit' and our 'marriage' as well as our children. We don't feel 'poor', we feel rich beyond measure.
What may look like wealth to one, may not look like wealth to another.
I don't know. Maybe she is hoping that he will change his ways?

And with the other one I have a friend that is going through the same thing. Her husband wants more kids but she doesn't b/c he doesn't really help with the one they have...it's just ridiculous

Same with my sis-in-law. She got her tubes tied and my bro-in-law didn't talk to her for like a week after that he was so pissed off. :confused Makes no sense to me, but I'm not in their shoes and don't really fully understand that thinking.

:homo: If everyone waited around until they were financially secure to have kids the human race would die out! There's a lot more important things in the world than money!
yeah she came down with her kids with her sisters family the Saturday before Christmas and he wasnt with them. He was cutting trees and drinking i think she said. He bought a motorcycle even though they can't really afford to have it.
Ther's a difference between living within your means and being poor.
I dunno. It's family and I just worry about them
