SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.
One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.
"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.
"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.
"Leave Santa alone."
A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself.

I'm sorry but i think this is stupid, Its ridiculous that someone actually takes offense to this enough to complain about it, Guess its another way for Christmas to become even less about Family and Togetherness....

Yeah some blonde here in the states thought the santa outside a target was calling her a ho or some stupid shit like that, and complained.

Whats even more bullshit is they took it into account and now we have dozens of years of santa 'tradition' going the side of nowhere.

The way i see it is those offended by what they think they are being called are only offended if its true, But little children dont know that Ho means anything more than the laugh Santa has. Its just people that have nothing better to do with time.

Hmmm, what was the word first use out of a Santa greeting and a slang term for a woman of loose morals anyway? It's a US slang term anyway so how could it get confusing in Australia?

So the word "Prick"....which in itself means puncturing with a sharp object.

I guess that's the next one to go as it may offend some. :ninja

santa saying ho ho ho has been around longer than the derogative meaning of that word i bet.....so umm shouldnt that mean that if someone is actually saying ho to you....you should just taking as a shorter santa's jolly ole laugh?

Oh it doesnt stop there though... i also found this...

"Fairy" Penguin No More

Fairy%20Penguin%20t.0.gifAustralia's fairy penguins have been renamed "little penguins" at Sea World theme park operators on the Gold Coast in Queensland to avoid offending the gay community.

Rebecca Smith, spokeswoman for Sea World, confirmed: "We didn't want to upset the gay community. We didn't have any complaints about the name of the penguins, but someone thought it could be seen as offensive so we decided to change it to little penguin instead. The name is more politically correct. We're not treating it as a big issue."

But the name change has had the opposite effect. Queensland's gay community described it as ridiculous and unnecessary.

"If they were called poofter penguins or something more direct, it might be a problem. But I don't see the name fairy penguin as a mickey take," Kamahl Fox, chairman of gay support group Gold Coast Breakers, said.

What the hell!! .....I cant wait to see what the next stupid thing they come up with is.....

It's funny. There have been so many people complaining about stupid shit that now people are paranoid about anything and everything, even though that name for the penguin has been around for years, they're trying to make everything less offensive, even if no one is taking offense to it.

And Im sure that the word fairy was only something brought up by someone to make it sound like it was referring to a member of the gay community...

Its all Bullshit as i said some people have nothing better to do :smiley24:
