It was so stupidly bone chilling cold outside today. I ended up going to an Atlanta Thrashers hockey game. First time, it was pretty cool.

I hate hockey. I went anyway, had no other plans so why not. I loved actually being there watching it though. I'm still not a fan of hockey, but I had a blast today. I'll post up pictures sometime if they came out right. Never checked them after we took any.

Okay, I'm at school trying to type a paper on social comparison which I pretty much know nothing about, and there's this annoying dude sitting in front of me watching Star Wars or someshit on his computer. He's annoying the girl sitting next to him. Yeah, anyways.

What's your opinion on social comparison?

My opinion on social comparison?

I guess it's valid. I mean, I understand how it would work. You are only smart if you are even with other "smart" people, and above people who you view as "dumb".

I'm not sure that I buy into it myself, but I understand the theory behind it.

Here's what i have so far. Social comparison is the idea that individuals learn about and assess themselves by comparison with other people. Social psychological research shows that individuals tend to lean more toward social comparisons in situations that are ambiguous.
Social comparison helps explain why women yearn to emulate the beautiful models they see in the media. They judge their selves in comparison to others. They see the women in magazines, TV, movies, etc and constantly compare their selves to them, comparing such things as hair, body structure, clothes, smell, personality, and intelligence.
