This afternoon i was driving home with the kids and as i went to turn a corner there was three kids on the road i literally had to stop mid turn nearly causing an accident whilst this kids reluctantly crossed the road at their own pace... i could have hit one of them if not could have caused an accident from the oncoming traffic.
Me not really caring what most people think shook my head at the passing teens and they gave me the finger and started yelling abuse!! :ninja

To which point i stopped the car and got out and walked over towards the kids who were sitting on the side of the road and told them all to obey their fukkin road rules and check for traffic if a car is coming you walk a little quicker across the road and don't dawdle as it can cause them to be hurt.

One of the kids told me to "get Stuffed and i wasn't their parents"

To which i replied " if i were your parent i would have taught you to respect your elders a little better"
The kids got up and wandered off...
Now im not an old fashioned person and i believe in a different system when it comes to raising kids BUT road rules?? does no parent teach their kids not to play on the road these days? I could have hit one of them and i was the one who copped the abuse because they took their time to cross :wtf:

It's your responsibility to look out for pedestrians and to try to anticipate their moves. If you were halfway into the turn before you saw them, you weren't paying attention.

Pedestrians have the right of way 100% of the time.

I saw them cross.... they were half way across the road by the time i would have turned at the intersection they should have been the entire way across the road....

The fact they wanted to take their time to cross the road is what im pointing out...

Well yeah, but what happens when a little old lady with a walker is trying to cross then?

Despite their rude disrespect, there is no set time for you to wait, you just have to wait until they are finished crossing. If there had been a cop there he would have told you the same thing.

She isn't intentionally taking her time. I think what Keight is trying to point out is that they were purposefully being ignorant and taking forever to cross the road.

Which doesn't matter. Sure, it's common sense to be polite and cross quickly, but the fact remains that she still has to wait.

But since I wasn't there and I don't know what they were doing in the middle of the road, all i'm doing is pointing out the law.

I don't have that problem. Three or four seconds into my break stand, smoking tires, and screaming engine, the road becomes clear.

I don't know what happens to the little buggers. They just up and disappeared. :dunno

The kids were being ignorant, no doubt. It must be some game they play, to try to make cars slow down and/or stop. And yeah, you can tell them to show more respect, but I doubt it is going to change them.
So when there is an issue you can't really influence, then don't waste your energy. I would not have gotten out of the vehicle and approached them. You potentially could have put your kids in danger if they would have tried to rob you or car-jack your vehicle (with your kids inside!). Just make sure your doors are all locked, slow down 'til they cross, shake your head at the ignorance of youth and move on.

I totally get your point James i do... however what i was trying to get across seemed to get across, even though it may have not been following the rules If a copper had pulled me up im sure it wouldn't have been me at the raw end of the stick, and if i didn't see the kids they wouldn't have walked away yanno.
All i was trying to say is although i may have gone too early around that corner when you cross the road you cross it you don't fuck around in the middle of it nor do you play mind games with drivers, whats to say i wasn't as patient as i was at the time and someone actually hit those kids?
I understand what you are trying to say but in the same sense you have to agree Kids should not be playing around on the road full stop.

The main reason i got out of the vehicle was because this isn't the first time its happened, my house is right near a high school and i have had enough of the kids mucking around on the road... ive watched them play in front of trucks and everything and all they need is for one of those truck drivers to have a bad day and flatten them, someone had to warn them and hey who knows perhaps my warning may have worked, in a perfect world yeah LOL.
We don't have alot of car jackings here either, its not something you have to be concerned about whenever you drive somewhere as well.
Id kinda pity the person who tried to jack my car though lol

You should have just hit them...

Nah, I'm just kidding, you would obviously get into a lot of trouble for that. But the sad thing is about today's kids, is they won't learn not to do something stupid until they pay a high consequence for their actions. They don't listen to warning from others, or even close calls where something COULD have happened. They will just laugh it off like it is a game. No, they only way they actually learn is to have something happen to them that opens their eyes as to why what they are doing is stupid and potentially dangerous.

Now, I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but if one ore more of the kids were hit and placed in the hospital, I can almost guarantee you he would think twice before crossing a street. But since nothing happened, more than likely they are going to treat it like a game again.

:: Sighs :: I hate ignorance...

If you were obeying the rules of the road and not speeding, I fail to see how this could have been your fault if you hit them. Stupid kids need to stop being irresponsible if the want to live much longer!

I call them "TV babies" these are the kids whose parents plopped their young arses in front of the TV and left them alone. (In other words the TV has raised them)

The good thing about stupid, ignorant people is that Darwinism has a way of sorting them out.
If those cocky teens continue to saunter across the road then one of them will likely get hit by a car. Granted, It will suck if one of them gets killed, However that's one less TV baby to breed and create more TV babies.
Harsh... For sure. But that's Darwinism.

Yes, blame parents and TV. I grew up watching a lot of TV too.
