Can you swim?

Just wondering how many grownups out there that don't know how to swim.

My mom and dad made all three of us take swimming lessons, and I remember my brother watching me do the breast stroke and go "wow james knows how to swim" well... duh? Took the same lessons as him.

i swim :D i took lessons for about 4 years then was on the swim team for one here :D you couldnt get me out of water when i was younger...now a days...man its been forever since i went swimming :( though i still remember the last time :p

I love swimming!

I found out in the Marine Corps that a whole lot of people from the "inner city" don't know how to swim.

I was shocked.

There's a stereotype in here, but I'll let it go...I did find out the same thing during swim qual's...

I practically lived at the pool during summers in junior high and early high school. It was an easy place to send a kid. I never had lessons, but when you hang around the pool a lot, you learn from everyone else. My "first kiss" was at the pool's concession stand close to closing time. LOL! I also taught myself to dive. I was pretty good off the 3 meter board. I don't know what the name of this was but, I could stand on the end on the board backwards, push off, and then do a one-and-one-half forwards. Good times. Too bad I never had the opportunity to be on a dive team.

Actually I think the most common stroke of swimming on the surface of the water is the front crawl. And if you can't really swim..... the doggy paddle ! The front crawl is the one that is taught the most..... not swam the most. Had to clarify that....... Most people who are swimming just for fun do the breast stroke or the side stroke. LOL ............ I understand about swimming underwater and on the surface.... most people find it harder to swim under the water, So when the comment was made that he could swim under and not on top I was surprised. Its usually the other way around.
