the reason why

Take a walk on what you think is the carpet...
wipe your feet, grind in the dirt.
Broken glass lays shattered in the cracks.
Try to clean but only hurts.

Salt on a fresh cut.
If its not fresh you draw the blade
and make it bleed once again.

Heart breaker...truth betrayer.
Dream slayer.
All that is and ever was
kicked to the pit once again.

Your eyes blinded by your spite,
what you think you see is wrong.
Cold and empty shell is all you ever are.

Promises lay dying,
you turn away when your girl is crying.
But she wont be your girl ever anymore.

You took her deepest fears
and used them as a weapon.
Used your words and turned them into knives.
Promised youd never hurt her.
But it didnt take your fists to put her through a wall.

Still for some reason she lingers.
Hiding in the night while she cries.
Wishing to give her child more than she had
to give her something she always dreamed of
Hoping you'll step up and learn to be a man.

Take a step...
just one more.
Just get moving one foot out the door.
But the seed of doubts been planted.
You're unsure of the life that lies ahead.

Breath in the air...know that truth is out there somewhere
a dream thats not forgotten anymore.
Theres better than this
can you do it on your own?
Is there someone out there waiting to see your smile?

wow...ok i re-read this today along with some of my old poems...and i just cant fathom how it has gotten this far....how did things slip so far away from what it used to be.

here were 2 poems i wrote for him a few years ago actually about 3 years to be more exact

and then to see my newest poem about him....kinda crushes me now to see how much different i feel

old ones to him:
~Keeper of my heart~

It's scary when you meet someone,
and without meaning to you fall in love.
You were the one to take my hand?
You showed me what love is, helped me to understand?
I thought for so long I'd never feel love this strong.
When I wake up in the morning, thoughts of you fill my head.
Without you in my life, a part of my would be dead.
Because of you I learned to laugh,
through the good times and the bad.
If the day comes that I lose you,
I'd be really sad.
I thought no one could reach me,
no one would find the key.
Ever since I met you those thoughts disappeared from me.
I never meant to trust you,
I never meant to care.
The choice was never mine to make,
my heart knew what was there.
Someone who makes me smile, who has helped me face my fears.
You wrap your arms around me, and dry up all my tears.
You're different than the ones before,
I knew it from the start.
No matter what the future holds,
you'll always be the keeper of my heart.

~Yesterday~

I'm dreaming of yesterday.
Of memories that'll never fade.
Of times when I felt so alive.
Now looking back, I want to cry.
You filled the void inside of me.
Showed me all that I could be.
When you held me in your arms,
I felt like nothing could go wrong.
You helped me find my strength inside,
that's been there all along.
I miss your smile, your laugh;
especially hearing your voice.
I'd re-live every moment with you,
if I had a choice.
Dreams unfulfilled I remember still,
how I feel when I lay in your arms.
With you there beside me,
I knew I'd be safe from harm.
I told you once before you'll always be
the keeper of my heart.
That hasn't changed and never will,
I knew it from the start.

So true...though it does hurt so bad sometimes...still you are right I wouldnt change it even now....no matter how much it may hurt
